BOOK DESCRIPTION FROM GOODREADSWell, when the plot thickens, the plot thickens! I, like many other readers, was very skeptical about the turn about in this second book of the Hunger Games Trilogy. It turns out that Ms. Collins had everything in hand all along. I blew through this book at a break neck pace in efforts just to see what was in store for our stunning tributes. Rebellious little devils aren't they? Katniss has to be one of my favorite teenage female protagonist in along while. She has smarts when it comes to survival and although the circumstances of her life has distanced her relationship from her remaining family, she can still be protective of them and keep close knit family values in tact. The story kicks in right where the last one left off and already Katniss realizes that her actions in the last book is going to have serious consequences. I don't think I could have had the composure that our young lead character showed in the den with our well loved (NOT!) President Snow. Although I am not a teenager anymore (thank goodness), I can really appreciate the feelings Katniss thinks over the whole Peeta and Gale situation. If it must be said... I really like Peeta but, I don't see it actually happening? But I will drink to hoping and dreaming that it does. After finishing the book and taking a little while to digest it, I feel the most significant thing that I can say is that Ms. Collins can paint a very vivid picture with words on paper. Each page comes alive and it is like you are right there in each scene playing out the lines. I have already just started reading Mockingjay and I cannot wait to find out what happens to finish this great trilogy off. As always, Thank-you Ms. Collins for yet another very entertaining read.
"Suzanne Collins continues the amazing story of Katniss Everdeen in the phenomenal Hunger Games trilogy.Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge."
